Ruth Estévez (Bilbao, 1977) is a writer and freelance curator. She holds a degree in Fine Arts from the Public University of the Basque Country and a Master’s degree in Art History from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, and she is a PhD candidate at the same university. From 2007 to 2011 she was head curator of the Carrillo Gil Museum of Art in Mexico City, where she currently resides. Her research projects are related with artistic strategies that serve to neutralise or deconstruct discourses of power through aesthetic and argumentation shift tactics.

She has also carried out projects with artists like Kendell Geers, Mark Manders, Guy Ben Ner and Fernando Ortega, among others. Her projects have been exhibited in cities such as Brussels, São Paulo, Buenos Aires, Los Angeles and Madrid. She writes regularly for Flash Art and Art Nexus. She is co-founder of Mexico City’s Bancomer-macg project offering grants to young artists. In 2010 she and her partners at PRODUCTORA founded the first space in Latin America dedicated to exhibiting and reflecting on architectural and urban planning practices: LIGA-Espacio para arquitectura-df.
