Adrián Navarro
Navarro´s creative processes pursue expanding the visual vocabulary, researching new intervention mechanisms on the medium of painting tools including own architecture.
Navarro's work explores the paradox between physical confinement and expansive freedom inherent in organic paint and, by extension, to humans.

1. What made you choose art as a profession?
I wanted to use plastic experimentation to resolve questions that I ask myself.
2. How would you define your work?
A visual autobiography combining portraits and self-expression through movement with rhythm and space.
3. What subjects are you interested in?
The energy field of a look and the human body; painting as an organic and expansive expression of nature.
4. What resources – formal or otherwise – do you use in your work?
Superimposition and creating heterogeneousness through layers in space and processes in time.
5. What relationship does your work have with reality? What are your raw materials?
My life and physical experiences are the ingredients for my work and its reality.
6. What, according to you, is the point of art? To obtain knowledge and enjoyment.
7. How do you hope the public will receive your work? In all different ways possible. What audience are you aiming at?
A universal audience.
8. What qualifications have you got? Architecture. What do you value most from your time in education?
Vision, representation and control of space.
9. How would you define your current professional situation? Fluid continuity in subjects and processes. And in the future?
I have an open mind on the future.
10. Many artists say it’s difficult to make a living from their work; how do economic considerations affect you when it comes to work? Do you think this has a bearing on your work?
Economic considerations are the Sword of Damocles hanging over the head of most artists. This has a bearing on everything except creativity.
11. What do you look for or expect from your relationship with promoters and curators? What advantages and difficulties have you found with these relationships?
I expect professionalism and the freedom to carry out my work.
12. What do you think sets the arts scene in Madrid apart from elsewhere? What would you say are its pluses and minuses?
Madrid has a vibrant and open local scene. On a global scale, though, it is peripheral, as it gets very little international attention.
