Vidal, Roberto

Roberto Vidal (Ponferrada, 1975) is a freelance curator and publication designer. He has completed university studies in Management and Art and professional studies in Editorial Design. His cultural, educational and publication projects centre on rudimentary issues, the “Do it yourself” philosophy, the inclusion of culture in the sphere of daily life and art’s overlap with other areas of culture. Together with Óscar Martín, he has been one of the winners of Inéditos 2010 (a programme sponsored by Obra Social Caja Madrid for unreleased curatorial projects) with the proposal De Zines on independent publications, which has travelled to different exhibition halls in Spain (La Casa Encendida in Madrid, Espacio para el Arte in Aranjuez, Obra Social Caja Madrid in Saragossa and Sala Rekalde in Bilbao, among others).

He has also been the winner of the Community of Madrid’s second call for Se busca comisario with 9, un proyecto sobre dibujo contemporáneo developed between January and September 2011 for the Sala de Arte Joven, which included an extensive exhibition, educational and supplementary activity programme centred on the practice of drawing today. He has also curated many exhibitions for the Mad is Mad Gallery in Madrid, co-directed the temporary exhibition space Max Luz in 2008 and teaches at the Istituto Europeo di Design.
