Virgina Torrente (Bilbao, 1963) holds a degree in Art History from the Complutense University of Madrid. From 1993 to 1999 she was curator and head of exhibitions at the Colección Arte Contemporáneo, and from 2000 to 2003 she held the same post at the Patio Herreriano Museum in Valladolid. From 2004 to 2006 she was in charge of Plastic Arts at Casa de América in Madrid, with an intense programme of more than 20 exhibitions per year.
Since 2007 she has worked as a freelance curator, having put on exhibitions, given lectures and published texts always related to contemporary art, whether inside or outside Spain. Furthermore, since 1999 she has formed part of the freelance curatorial project Doméstico and is currently head of artistic direction for the initiative Jugada a 3 bandas.
