Duero, Javier

Javier Duero (Madrid, 1970) is a freelance curator and cultural producer. He has been art director (2005-2007) of Observatori, Artistic Research Festival of Valencia, a consultant for the Associated Visual Artists of Madrid (AVAM) and a member of the technical committee of Estampa, the International Print and Contemporary Art Fair (2007-2009). In 2008 he headed the AVLAB department at Medialab Prado and in 2009 he was selected by ARCOmadrid as curator for the programme Performing Los Angeles. He has been a consulting member of the jury for the Action Art department of the Haute École d’Art et de Design (HEAD) in Geneva (2009-2010). In 2010 he was invited to participate in Matadero Centre of Contemporary Art’s Archivo de Creadores de Madrid project.

 

He currently coordinates Mapear Madrid, a research project curated by the Dos de Mayo Centre of Art (CA2M) on the Community of Madrid’s cultural sector and has formed part of the curatorial committee of the JUSTMAD Art Fair 2011. Since 2008 he has been a member of Pensart, a cultural association formed by a collective of professionals in the fields of contemporary art, art education and social action that carry out cultural mediation practices.
