Blas, Susana
Susana Blas Brunel (Madrid, 1969) is a contemporary art historian specialised in audiovisual creation. She currently writes for the cultural television programme “Metrópolis” (TVE2). She writes for different publications about video, gender issues and art today and has led workshops and given talks on these subjects.
She has curated series and exhibitions on video art: Videos XX, Photoespaña 2002; Adolescentes, Reina Sofía Museum (2003); Vete a tu habitación, La Casa Encendida (Madrid, 2003); EL: ¿nuevos masculinos?, Sala Juan Francés (Zaragoza, 2006); Disparos eléctricos. Vídeo y Feminismo, Centro Cultural Montehermoso (Vitoria, 2007); El viaje dislocado, MARCO (Vigo, 2007); and Sonrisas y Lágrimas, Torrente Ballester Centre (Ferrol, 2010); among other projects. Since February 2004 he has regularly curated video art at La Casa Encendida in the Videomix section: La Poética de los hoteles, Paisaje y memoria, Eija Liisa Athila, Coctelera rusa, Espíritu and Dvein, among many others.
Some of the aforementioned projects have travelled internationally, and others have been specifically conceived for international exhibition. The most recent is Mundo aparte: nuevo videoclip español (2009-2011), produced by the Instituto Cervantes and presented in various Instituto Cervantes centres around the world.
